Built For Zero
Our community has joined over 100 others to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-reoccurring through the Built for Zero movement.
Our Kansas City Built for Zero Initiative started in October 2023 with the goal of solving veteran homelessness.

Achieve Veteran Quality Data - COMPLETED 20%
Reduction in Veteran Homelessness by Nov. 2025 - COMPLETED
Ending Chronic Veteran Homelessness by Nov. 2026
Focus on unsheltered veterans so there is a bed for every vet
We have also been a part of the Kansas Statewide Built for Zero initiative and are working to achieve Quality Data for all single adults in Wyandotte County.
Data infrastructure improvements - Developed a comprehensive BNL using 3+ data sources and tracks active/inactive/housed status' effectively
Instituted Veteran Case Conferencing on a weekly basis
Documented outreach coverage and started work on an outreach map to show how teams are deployed across the CoC
Increased outreach coordination, collaboration, and training
Reduced siloing and increased collaboration
Achieved Quality Data for veteran population!
Reduced overall veteran homelessness by 20% in 12 months as of Nov. 2025
